David W. Chia, M.D. MBA is an ophthalmologist who joined Irvine Eye Medical Group in 2006. He completed his 3-year ophthalmology training program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Prior to that, he did an internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He graduated medical school from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania where he delivered the medical school commencement address. Dr. David Chia received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine Merage School of Management and attended Rice University in Houston, Texas for undergraduate studies.
Dr. David Chia is a clinical instructor of surgery at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Long Beach where he teaches the ophthalmology residents from UC Irvine. He is on staff at Hoag Presbyterian Hospital.
Though much of his higher education is based on the East Coast, Dr. David Chia is pleased to return to his hometown, where his family has been since 1976, to join his mother, Dr. Li-Li Chia, in ophthalmology practice to serve the eye care needs of the Southern California community. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
Dr. David Chia resides in Irvine along with his wife and two daughters.
